I've set up DOSBOX and successfully run Master of Orion. However, when I run Colonization the intro works but the program itself (VICEROY) exits with exit value: 19. Does anyone know what this error signifies?

My original game came on diskettes and I've copied all the files to a directory and mounted it such that the directory has the same name as the original installed directory (C:\MPS\COLONIZE). I've tried mounting an A: drive in addition but this makes no difference. Any ideas?

A similar error was answered via Yahoo! Answers a few days ago: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid= … 09130514AAGRMUi

Exit value: 19 means that the game that you tried to run failed to find the CD-ROM.to load the rest of the game introduction. If you want to use the game under DOSBox, you have to mount the CD-ROM ISO image as at least drive D.

This error should be easily corrected if you try to run Colonization under Virtual PC, VirtualBox, Qemu, VMware Player/Workstation or Bochs as you should load the CD-ROM ISO image without problems. You're not going to have much luck trying to run Colonization under PCem, because it has limited CD-ROM emulation support.

Thanks for the advice. I'm puzzled why the program is looking for a CD-ROM when it came on diskette (4 if I remember rightly)! It runs on my old Windows 98 system without reference to a CD, using just the files in the directory which I've copied to the Windows 8 machine on which I'm running DOSBOX.

You're welcome! 😁

H'mm, but how can I mount a CD ISO image when there was no CD involved? I've tried looking in the INSTALL.DAT file where various paths are mentioned, and they are all on the C:drive except for one reference to an A: drive. However when running this on the old Win98 PC it doesn't try to access the diskette drive (or the CD drive).

To mount a ISO, use this command: MOUNT D D:\ -t cdrom

If you have copied All of the files from your floppies to a directory that does not mean that it has been installed/setup. Mount that folder as "A:" and mount a folder that the game will be installed into as "C:". Change to the A drive at the prompt and run the game's installer. Note that some installers will require that you mount the A drive with the "-t floppy" option.

BTW, you should ask DOSBox questions in the DOSBox forum. Perhaps a mod will be kind enough to move this for you.
