Dos glide games are easier to run on voodoo1, but with the right patches and/or batch files most will run perfectly on voodoo2.

If this is your first voodoo, start easy: Clean Install 98se, directx 7 and your matrox drivers. After that install the voodoo2 gold drivers for win9x.

Now try some later games like Nfs2 SE or any other windows glide game. When this all works (and it should) start fiddling around with the dos glide games. The ones i use can simply start from 98se, some just need a batch file/patch to run on v2.

Never used a voodoo with windows 3.1 , with 98se i never had a problem to get any voodoo working and i have them all (v1-v5). They can give problems with certain games, but should work with most and they are easy to use. If no game in 98se works the card is defective or try another slot.

If it is defective: take a good look at all the small legs of the chips on the cards, sometimes they are handled rough (in boxes full of stuff) and the legs are touching. Fixed some with a small needle and they work fine now.

If the Voodoo card is being recognized as "PCI Multimedia Device", then the drivers are not installed correctly and something is wrong. Have you tried installing the driver manually?
