Hi,

I found a nice native 640x480 TFT TV, that support from 50 to 75hz

I have a laptop with a nvidia 8600m. In desktop i select 640x480 70hz, and configure dosbox to use desktop resolution, and fulldouble=false

i get perfect sync in games that are 320x200 70hz, exactly like my real DOS PC

Same config with a desktop PC, that have a ATI 4350, and NO way to have a perfect sync, i tried a lot of things, no luck

Two questions

1 - Any advice what is the problem with the ati card? i tried different driver version, no luck

2 - How i can select the "HZ" in dosbox? specially inside dosbox, my idea is to always use 640x480x70hz, and make batch files for games that use diferent refresh than 70hz

Thanks

If your desktop is 640x480x70 Hz you may use the emulator in window mode. To solve problems with Hz in fullscreen you may experiment with other output= param. You may try output=ddraw and set refresh in dxdiag utility.
ykhwong's build has vsyncrate=

Hi, no, my desktop is 640x480x60hz, i only use 70hz for dosbox

For now, i use powerstrip to change to 640x480x@@hz when dosbox start, but i spect to be temporary solution, until found the correct way to do, using a option with dosbox

I preffer not to use vsync if i can use the correct HZ, thats my idea to use this old screen that support 70/72/75hz, not force use vsync

Other problem is that with the ATI card I did not have any luck with plain dosbox or ykhwong's build, to have a correct sync (nvidia card works great)

Thanks for reply

To get 70 Hz in DOSBox's fullscreen you may need 70 Hz in desktop. Then you should get sync in VGA 70 Hz games.
The other way is to try dxdiag as I've described above. This should work for any video card.

i know hot to get 70hz in dosbox using external software/using desktop, my question is how to do change the refresh in dosbox, I with a command line, internal command, or something like this

There is many games, with different refresh rates, and the best way is the command line option, to use in a batch, but i dont see the option

I assume dosbox dont do just a "pass through" for games, because with "original" option and a CRT, i cant get good sync neither, i need to use the refresh manually

About dxdiag i dont understand very well what do you say, are you talking about override the refresh rate? this is not a option, since i use 640x480 in many refresh rates for different emulators

OK edit: I found this

Setting Dosbox refresh rate for 720x400 mode

Sadly dosbox cant change the refresh rate buy himself, not very good for CRT and multi multi refresh screen users... 😒

Of course nothing of this will be important, if I dont found how to use the correct refresh rate, or what is happening with my ATI card. Looks like dosbox with the ati card always use 60hz

My ati problem remains, any advice, will be great
