Hi, I was reffered to this site by a tech. help comp. website, The problem being is that i am trying to get vdmsound to work. I have downloaded v2.0.3 which comes with the extension of an .msi file, I typed .msi into a search engine and found the program for opening msi files. ( microsoft installer if iam correct? ) i downloaded the right version for my required need ( windows 2000 nt ) only to find when installing an error that says

"The windows installer device cannot update the system file c:\winnt\system32\msi.dll because the file is protected by windows,. You may need to update your operating system for this program to work correctly".

So, as you can see, i havent even had a try at installing vdmsound. msinstaller does not seem to work. Any help/advice?

Problem Number One: The latest version is 2.0.4.
Problem Number Two: If MSI didn't come preinstalled with Windows, you need to reinstall your OS, as something has been corrupted in the process.

Yes, it’s my fault.

Yeah, please make sure to download v2.0.4 since it has better compatibility as well as joystick and AdLib support.
Save the .msi file on your harddisk and double-click on it. Windows 2000 and XP come preinstalled with Windows installer.
