Recently, i had the idea of installing multiple Windows versions (98/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista/7... ,maybe 8/8.1 and 10 if the hardware can). Running some benchmarks and comparing the OSes.
I have the following benchmarks as now:
3DMark99/2000/2001SE/03/05/06 (will be run on default settings)
PassMark PerfomanceTest v6/v7/v8
Quake 3 Arena
7-zip 9.20/16
Test systems (with spare hardware i own or i owe from other of my systems)
Plataform Hardware Options:
i865 + P4 (Abit AI7 with Pentium 4 3.2C/3.2E or bench with both CPUs, tests will be with both HT enabled and disabled. Other motherboards options could be ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe and the Gigabyte 8IPE1000-G)
Athlon 64 Socket 754 (DFI K8T800 Pro-ALT with Athlon 64 3200+ 2.2 Ghz 512 KB L2 Newcastle)
Athlon XP (MSI KT6V-LSR with an Athlon XP 3000+ Barton FSB 400)
Videocard Options:
Geforce 4 MX 440-8x (not supported on Vista+)
Geforce FX 5500 (no proper support in Vista+)
Geforce 6200
Radeon 9600
Geforce 7600GT AGP (no official Win 9x support, although modded drivers could be used)
RAM Options:
Ranged from 512 MB up to 2 GB DDR400
HDD Options:
Samsung HD080HJ 80 GB SATA
Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 80 GB IDE
Maxtor DiamondMax 9 120 GB SATA
Audio Options:
¿Should i stick to the onboard audio or use a soundcard?
I have a Soundblaster Live 5.1 and the PCI128
¿Do you have a suggestion or thoughts about this? ¿Other bechmarks/tools i can find?
This might take some time to happen (other stuff, friends...). I'll keep updated when i start the tests/builds and other stuff.
