Ordered one of those last Dreamblaster S1 boards a few weeks ago, but didn't get to install it until now. You can imagine my disappointment when it turned out that none of my ISA sound cards got a Waveblaster header...
I do however have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz I've been planning to replace the SB Live used as Windows sound card with at some point anyways, so why not do it now. The Santa Cruz got a Waveblaster header, but is of course a PCI card.
The sound setup in the computer is gonna be an AWE64 for DOS sound, and the Santa Cruz for Windows sound and hosting the S1. They're both connected to the same receiver through a passive mixer. I'd rather not load any drivers for the Santa Cruz in DOS if it can be avoided.
My questions are as following:
1) Will the fact that the Santa Cruz is a PCI card make it less suitable for MIDI in games launched from DOS?
2) Will I have to load the DOS drivers for the Santa Cruz to be able to use the Dreamblaster from DOS?
3) Should I give up this idea, and just get myself an ISA card with a Waveblaster header?
