For a bit of fun after the Haye and Bellew fight last night, and since I’m collecting data anyway! I thought it would be pretty neat to merge some results and make some more, from two separate projects into one bigger bust-up!

Essentially it’s just a comparison of how both bench against each other, as single and dual CPU systems (when possible). I will be looking to standardize each spec for consistency such as comparing each with the same DRAM, CPU(s), FSB, Cache, and VGA.

The Contenders

In the right corner… the well known local from Leeds, coming in at 29 lbs… Compaq’s Systempro!

… and in the left corner, coming in the heavier at 31 lbs, the challenger hailing from Chalgrove, Oxfordshire… ALR’s Powerpro!

By touting this match-up so early on… I’ll look to put early input from Vogons members into building a better set of results. I know everyone is era-specific when it comes to hardware, so the aim will be to collect data ranging from as high as 586’s running at 133MHz, eventually working the way down to the lower end; 386’s.

Well.....don't bother.

Whatever you do from here on will not be interesting anymore....THOSE CASES!! I LOVE THEM! These are without a doubt the most beautifull old cases i have seen.
The left one is simply amazing, the right one almost as beautiful.

Nice, very nice.

I'm sorry if it sounded wrong, it was meant to be in a fun, light way.

But I really like those cases! That's all i meant to say.

I am eagerly looking forward to a dual Am5x86-133 or Cx5x86-100 show down - the first on Vogons, maybe the first on any modern forum? How about a dual POD83? Even a single core comparison would be neat. Maybe before the end of your life, you'll find the second 386 CPU card and second 486 CPU card for the ALR.

Plan your life wisely, you'll be dead before you know it.

What a beautiful pair of systems. Looking forward to benchmarks, reports and comments(with more pics!).

Am5x86-133 showdown is first on the list, I have two of those CPU's. I have a single IBM 5x86C-100 (blue heatsink) and a Cx5x86-100 (green heatsink), does the IBM and Cyrix need a VRM? The two Am5x86 have a adapter boards attached to both step down the volts and multiply the clock. I'm looking forward to these 486 tests... i've never really spent much time benching 486/5x86's before! A dual POD83?... Good Idea! I have one of those... ran it only a couple of times to test functionality, so even single core in the short term will be go.

Ha 🤣 I like the way you put "before the end of my life" ... yes, very much on the 'bucket list'. 🤣

Nice systems 😀 Please bench some games as well.

For everyone else who use the metric system, and don't want to Google:
29 lbs = 13,2 kg
31 lbs = 14 kg

Sure, what games are good for benching? The only ones I know of that have the measuring of fps built in are Doom and Quake.

Don't "quote" me on those weights btw... I put that in just for a bit of 'ringside commentary', really they're just an estimate from picking them up with my hands and could be a bit more. They are similar in weight though, not much between them.
