I have a IBM PS/Valuepoint 433SX/S (a 486 SX) and an IBM Personal Computer 350 (Pentium 200). I want to set each of these systems up for gaming, but I'm having trouble figuring out which video and sound card should go in each system. Here's what they currently have:
IBM PS/Valuepoint
----------------------
Graphics: S3 86C805 (built in)
Sound: Ensoniq Soundscape Opus
IBM Personal Computer 350
---------------------------------
Graphics: Matrox Millennium MGA (card) or S3 Trio64V+ (built in) - I can use either, current using the Millennium
Sound: Soundblaster Awe32 + Roland MT-32
I also have a spare Matrox Millennium 2 (576-04) card and a Geforce2 MX400 64MB PCI VGA. How should I allocate these cards? Given that I'm going for late 80's/early 90's on the 486 and mid-90's/early 2000's on the Pentium, I'm thinking this:
IBM PS/Valuepoint
----------------------
Graphics: S3 86C805 (built in) or Matrox Millennium MGA (not sure which would be better)
Sound: Soundblaster Awe32 + Roland MT-32 (the Roland is really for Sierra games)
IBM Personal Computer 350
---------------------------------
Graphics: Geforce2 MX400 64MB PCI VGA
Sound: Ensoniq Soundscape Opus
Does that sound reasonable?
