Hi,
sorry for my english.
I'm a new user and my name is Dario. Nice to meet you 😀
My old pc (i bought it used) has the same problem that i saw in this discussion:
(Solved) Bios POST error message: CMOS INOPERATIONAL. SYSTEM HALTED.
The specs of my old pc are:
Cpu: Intel N80286-10 10 mhz
Ram: 4 MB (8 x KM44C25GAP-8)
Motherboard: Octek Fox M 286 rev 1.1
Vga: Vga port and Ega port. Perhaps it is 16 bit. I use the Vga port.
I don't have a vintage keyboard with the connector Din 5 pin. At the moment i can't connect a keyboard to the my old pc because i don't have an adaptor Din 5 pin male to ps2 female. Please, tell me if it's the cause of this error.
I desoldered one of tantalum capacitor (behind the connector P8) because was the cause of short circuit. Without this capacitor pc and psu are turned on. I must to buy a new tantalum capacitor with the same specs in the future.
The old battery was dead and in the shop didn't have a battery with the same mah. The new battery: + join Nimh BM704-33 3,6 volt 80 mah.
The old dead battery:
Without battery:
I replaced the old IC Motorola MC146818P with a Motorola MC146818CP that i bought new in the shop. This new IC has to the letter C but i don't know if is a problem or no.
Then i removed the scotch-tape and i solder the new battery and i respected the polarity.
