Yeah, thank You. I have that Version allready and my S2P works fine. Problem is the /MT32 option as it works ONLY with s2p. So I asked if that switch could be implemented into the other /OUTPUT options so i can switch my standard S2 on the soundcard's MPU interface to MT32 emulation.

And when I'm done using the game and software, I type in the TSR removal command to close out the SoftMPU software.

While this may free the memory used by the TSR, it won't return the RTC, PIC and GDT to their original state and will probably result in a crash later on.

I reboot the system later on as a precautionary measure.

First post in here (hello everyone!)

I just tried SoftMPU with my Sound Blaster + MT-32 rev0 and it worked fine. I did not see my specific card in the compatibility list, so here are the details:

Sound card: Creative Sound Blaster CT1750 SB16-MCD ISA
CPU: Intel 486DX2-66Mhz
Memory: 64MB DIMM 80ns

I started softmpu from my autoexec.bat with /SB:220 /IRQ:5 /MPU:330 /DELAYSYSEX

So far I have only tested with Space Quest 3, but it is working fine.

Welcome. Glad it worked for you. Which DSP version is your CT1750 and are there any hanging note bugs?

Is it the CT1747 or YMF-262M? The CT1747 has only the level 2 bug, which is rare, and level 1 is the only one that has hanging notes galore.

Yes. I haven't forgotten robertmo 😀 I might have time over Xmas to try Corporation and Mechwarrior! I actually only have my 486 laptop with SB16 left now but that should be good enough.

Attempted to run SoftMPU on my 386/486DLC machine with a Passport MIDI PC card and says card not detected at port 330. So I'm not sure if it's because the card is incompatible, which it could be in my case (got the card on eBay) or something went wrong. No conflicts, though.

However, without the SoftMPU, LucasArts games, like Monkey Island, TIE Fighter, and Fate of Atlantis do work with the Passport MIDI PC card (Media Vision was the one that produced the card, but I cannot find info about the card, such as compatibility).

Tested SoftMPU successfully with an Opti/Ectiva MachOne EV1935 based sound card, it can use the PCI IRQ for Sound Blaster emulation so IRQ 2/9 works just fine.

Tested SoftMPU successfully with a Creative EMU8008 based sound card (AWE64D CT4600), it uses serial IRQ for Sound Blaster emulation and has an option for IRQ9.

Tried SoftMPU with IBM Thinkpad 360CE with HOSA DBK-103 cable and output to COM port. Sound is working with:
- Dosmid player
- Lost Vikings
- HOMM 2
- Tetris Classic
Does NOT work with:
- DOOM 1/2
- Heretic
- Tyrian
- Raptor
- ROTT

Does anyone know why it's working with some games and doesn't work with others?

Those later games use a DOS extender (e.g. DOS4GW), SoftMPU doesn't work with those protected mode games.

Thank you for the info. But for some reason SoftMPU works with HOMM2, which uses DOS4GW.
