Hi everybody!! 😀

I've got a little problem with configuring some DOS-games. For example Mortal Kombat. I do my settings in the setup, but it doesn't save them. That also ocurs with other games.
I always get the message in the status-window of DOSBox, that the creation of a file (also with filename) failed. I also suppose to know the reason: The folder that contains my DOS-games has the "read-only" attribute. But I cannot remove it. I allready tried to create other folders. Each folder I create new gets the "read-only"-attribute. It seems to be a windows-standard-procedure to give each folder the "read-only"attribute. Is this the cause for my unability to save configs? What can I do against that? I think this problem can und must be solved.

OK, that's it for the first. 😀

Helping me solving this problem would be a really big favour. 😀)

Why can't you remove the read-only attribute from the folder?
*thinks*...Are you using an admin account, or a user account on windows?

I realized, that each folder on my PC and also each new created folder gets the "read only" attribute. I'm also logged in as Admin on my PC. So, what can I do? Or do you know another reason for my unability to save configurations?

OK, that's it.

Please help me.

Hm, not sure why your files get read-only always, but for mk1
you can just delete the hidden file cmos (without extension),
it will be recreated the next time you start the game.

There's no need for multiple threads about the same problem...

Hi everybody!! 😀)

Maybe you remember my last two topics regarding problems with saving game-configs in DOSBox. Well, I've got some kind of a solution. Maybe, there are others with similar probs and My solution helps. Here it is:

It's easy: you've to find out the name of the file, that uses your game's setup to save the configuration. Delete it (uner windows, not under DOSBox). After deletion start DOSBox and the game / it's setup. In most cases a new file with your desired config will be created.

OK, I hope it helps, but this fist-full of trials I made gave me a good impression.
