bug on windows xp with update drive info while pressing Ctrl F4 it doesnt do anything.

On windows xp this will not update drives to refresh say I put a disk in drive a: then mount it. Once I remove it put 2nd disk will not grab the info off the next disk. On windows 98 program works great but on xp it doesnt work correctly.

I was trying to restore old ms-dos backup disks on xp would never let me go 2nd or 3rd disk to restore because mounted drive wouldnt refresh when I pressed the button. Then I tryed on windows98 and it worked fine something bugy there on xp.

I even tryed tell dosbox to emulate under windows98 on xp that didnt get the key to work also it doesnt like xp 🤣.

Maybe have a auto refresh mounted drives on xp for program since Ctrl F4 key is not working on xp systems.

Thx again keep up the good work the program is great on windows98 only so far.... hehehe

Depends on how the program detects floppy changes. Be sure that
windows upated the floppy contents (f5 in the windows filemgr on a: ).

F5 key did not refresh mounted drives in dosbox I tryed ver .65 and lower same thing happens with program. F5 key just to refresh windows in general not for dosbox program.

I mount a dirve on c: then add text file in windows put in folder I tell dosbox refresh its mounted drive it doesnt do anything.

So is there bug only in xp or is there another key combo I need to press to get mounted drives to check drive for new files.

It would be nice to use this program on xp also if would take another look at new files on mounted drives.

Thx again...

No. Pressing the F5-key in the Windows Explorer should refresh the floppy
contents of the XP floppy cache. THEN and only then the CTRL-F4 inside
dosbox can refresh the mounted floppy contents.

Works fine for me. If you're on the dosbox commandline, you can also
type "refresh" instead of pressing CTRL-F4.

Both dont work ctrl -f4 is useless in windows xp and so is typeing the word "refresh" on command line of dosbox program.

error illegal command

Can anyone with xp get new list of files once you mount them or is just me. Nothing seems to get windows xp to check for new files.

Rescan seems to update drives also nice command. If there was a way to set to a key combo for that command would be best. Like ctrl-home or ctrl-end or maybe shift -f12. Or if you can just get windows xp to work with ctrl -f4 key would be great.

If you still want to restore items once you go to next disk if you try type anything it will jump out of restore process. That why maybe recan command assigned to key would be great. Or just geting Ctrl-f4 to work with windows xp maybe in next update you can fix that would be great.

If you need restore / backup program to check this out here is a site you can download. http://oldfiles.org.uk/powerload/msdos.htm here is the restore / backup command for ms-dos 5 its a great site.

Maybe you can add those command/program in next update also would be nice also.

Thx again 😊 😁 😁

You must realize this is a local problem with your XP or DOSbox configuration. Ctrl-F4 works fine under XP, as it does on other OSes. You might want to read this post: "Special Keys" Don't work., as somebody there had a similar problem.

Yes, as rescan works fine some other program must be
stealing the ctrl-f4 key combination.

ok I figured out with your link to other thread was a great help. It was the FLock button on keyboard for xp systems that has to be on. Then extra Ctrl F1-f12 keys work fine.. whohoooo thx... 😀 😀 Keep up the good work I love the program...

what was logitech thinking? I always wonder about that. Everyone seems to run into this problem and they never made it easy to turn off.
