I'm a neanderthal when it comes to this stuff and I have no clue how to get a game working.

I made a folder on my D drive called "veryoldgames" and tried mounting it. I doubt I did it right, though.

I also installed Redneck Rampage in that folder. However, I don't know how to run the games with DOSbox.

Please! Help me. Anything is greatly appreciated.

Please work through the threads in the Guides forum.
If something is unclear, feel free to ask. Yet most things are already
answered in the readme or on the forum.

Okay.
I got the stuff mounted according to the guide. I had to install through Windows rather than using DOSbox because it kept getting an error while archiving.
Now how do I actually run it... Hmm.

Yeah, I can't get it to run at all. Even with the commands he had me use.

No, the CD isn't corrupted either. It works fine.

You might want to mention the commands you are entering, so we can see what exactly you might be doing wrong.

Well, I finally got it running. But... There's no sound.

Is it going to be this big of a hassle for every game?

It isn't for most of us. Without more information, we still won't be able to tell what you might be doing wrong.
Personally, I'd bet on the game not being properly configured through its setup program. Also, note that Redneck Rampage is a relatively recent game and might not run optimally under DOSBox if your system isn't seriously high spec-ed.

No, once you know what to do it takes a few seconds (copying/unpacking
the game, installing it if necessary, reconfiguring it and running it).

About sound: see if the game has a setup.exe or setsnd.exe or any kind
of installer. Run it and select Sound Blaster 16 with irq=7 dma=1 addr=220.

Yeah, I had to set sound to off. Anyway, my system is very decent. Enough to run CS Source on high detail and still get 50fps.

Okay, got sound running. But
FPS is way low plus the sound doesn't even sync with it. Ugh.

Don't tell, fps are low on your high-end computer?

Edit dosbox.conf and set:

core=dynamic
cycles=auto

And read the readme too.
