Yeah, you can afford to give it some time, it's not really ready for prime time yet, compatibility is still quite a ways off. When considering games I think it's fair to say no more than 50% work properly.

I made order at the start of corona.. it took half and year to get response and after that week to deliver.. Without such long waiting period i would probably canceled it, but now i can claim, that i have finally own Amiga 😀

Speaking of Amiga compatible newly manufactured systems.. my work gave me $200 in Amazon gift cards a few days ago, so I figured I'd get one of these to put in a Checkmate A1500 Mini when it is released:

I also got a 128MB SRAM board for it, and ordered the full Mister I/O system for it, which should be here in a few days.

The Amiga stuff in these pages pleases me. I wish I had the room to break out my A500+ACA500Plus as well. I'm hoping to buy a network solution for it some time.

Got a Supermicro X10DRi board with two Xeon V3 processors and 64GB DDR4 RAM for a really good price.
This will a beast of a rendering machine. 😀

It's E-ATX, but it will hopefully still fit into my In-Win Q500 case. If not, I am in a lot of trouble. 😁

One of these $8 Rock64 boards just showed up from Amazon. (Recon Sentinel) I had ordered it 2 weeks ago but it was out of stock. Apparently it came back in stock at some point. It also came with a case that has a 20x2 LCD blue display, a 5V/3A power supply, and a 16GB SanDisk Ultra Class 10 MicroSD card. However, the case blocks everything except power and Ethernet/USB, so I ordered a cheap plexiglass case for it to have access to everything easily.

Easily, one of the best SBC in the current market for sure.

Update: The dual Xenon board did NOT fit into my In-Win Q500 case. Only a few screwholes at the bottom aligned properly so the board was flapping around at the top.
It turns out that Supermicro is not sticking 100% to the E-ATX standard on their dual CPU boards.

So I drilled a few more holes and put new threads in them (the threads for motherboard standoffs are UNC 6/32). I ruined a drillbit doing that, because I'm an idiot:

Now it fits perfectly and it's an absolute beast, not breaking a sweat in any modern games or when I do 3D rendering with Blender.

Sadly, the onboard BMC chip (baseboard management controller) is dead. On a server board, the BMC handles the VGA output, fan speed, KVM and much more.
So the board works, but due to the missing BMC it just sits there for a minute before it boots up - and the fans are always spinning 100%. Annoying.

I can probably alleviate this issue with a manual fan control. Or maybe I'll just get another board that is not broken.

I'm starting to get back into modern PC gaming again so I ordered an open box GTX 1660 for pretty cheap. I know it's far from the best, but coming from Intel 4600 graphics I think I'll be happy.

Not sure how much that cost you but considering market prices you would probably have gotten better bang for your buck with an RX5700..

Neither assertion is true but bias will bias..

G1660 has TDP 120W
R5700 - 180W and real numbers are higher.

And we know that even in same line, are manufactures using worse cooling on AMD, than on Nvidia for lots of years.

OEM coolers on the cards have been on parity for years now. Also comparing TDP as a measuring stick for noise means nothing as long as the cooler is up to par, just look at the 3090.

TDP - is physics, it's from my experience and youtubers are saying the same thing... I don't think we are all paid by Nvidia.

I wanted to get something faster, but I'm saving my pennies for a new ryzen build next year.

I bought a MIDI splitter cable so I can connect my MT-32 and SC-55 to a single PCMIDI card, without having to use the THRU port. Works fine!

Using the THRU port wasn't a big problem, but it annoyed me to have to always turn both synths on to use whichever one was daisy chained to the synth connected directly to the PCMIDI card.

Went to the store to buy cookies and fruitcake.
Came home with this thing:

Yeah, I know. There are far better ways to spend money, and I definitely felt a twinge of guilt at having succumbed to the temptation:
Gee, Your Honor, the IPS LCD was bright and inviting and just oozing with high contrast goodness. I gripped the controls and began playing. The emulation was perfect and completely lag free. And oh boy did it bring powerful waves of nostalgia. I remember "helping" my dad play this game at the arcade when I was 5 or 6 years old.

When I came to my senses, I had the machine loaded up in the back of my truck and there was my bank account lying dead on the floor...
