You know I bet if you found someone with unmarked ones they would trade you in a heartbeat since those have the IBM branding.

Main pc: Asus ROG 17. R9 5900HX, RTX 3070m, 16gb ddr4 3200, 1tb NVME.
Retro PC: Soyo P4S Dragon, 3gb ddr 266, 120gb Maxtor, Geforce Fx 5950 Ultra, SB Live! 5.1

Are the cutouts on the bottom of those speakers seriously there to accommodate the width of the keyboard?

It does look like that from the pic. They are actually further back and away from the desktop. Just looking at it though it would all line up with the keyboard flat.

Amazing! I've got complete Aptiva system as well but with G50 monitor and non-IBM branded speakers that came with the system. I'm missing the L2 cache though...

Very nice, would you be able to post a model number or some kind of markings on the speakers? Would love to track some down, I don’t ever see them listed with ibm or aptiva parts.

Thanks for that. They are new old stock with box complete incase anyone has mint non branded aptiva speakers for trade/sale.

the speakers that came along with my IBM Aptiva are the same found in this IBM Aptiva 2144-M51. Unfortunately there are no brand or model markings in these. Here's more pics I found online http://yahoo.aleado.com/lot?auctionID=k352345667

A few minor changes from the last picture that I figured I'd share.

1. added a 5V LNA to the 9600 Pro because it was obnoxious, and temps aren't even much worse at all
2. moved all my sound card stuff up since I plan on buying a USB 2.0 card before too much longer because not having one has become incredibly irritating
3. finally removed the sticker thing off the CD audio cable on the sound card side to make it look a little bit better (ironic considering how much worse the 9600 Pro looks)

Eventually I'd also like to move everything onto the 240GB SSD I have, but after stealing the SATA to IDE adapter from my OG Xbox and cloning the OS drive to see how it'd do, this dumb board has started protesting its use. Now regardless of what drive is plugged into the adapter, it doesn't detect it and the HDD LED just stays on. Hopefully whenever I buy a second adapter it'll work with that one.

That tiny Compaq is adorable 😊

Yep. It has a glitching HDD. I will need to replace it, but it is very difficult to disassemble
Currently has windows 95 on it
Here is a very good video about this by Lazy Game Reviews (LGR) who is a frequent guest here at Vogons

That power strip under your monitor is iconic to me. My grandpa had the same one under his monitors forever (at least 30 years that I can remember). I bet it's in storage at our cabin since he passed. I need to find it and revive its use with my y2k build. Thanks for the inspiration and sharing this great build!

I have one in use since it was new. The lights do burn out over time but I never looked into replacing them.

Glad I am inspiring you on trying to find one! I actually have a source of quite a bit of Brand New Old Stock peripherals that has probably well over 50 of these brand new. I plan on going back and buying at least a couple more just to hang on to for spares.
