Snatched this sealed EXP PCMCIA CD-ROM with built-in sound (Soundnote) from Ebay. 30 dollars shipped. Found it absolutely accidentally. As it was listed under the name «Vintage 1998 PC Portable 8X Speed Multi Media Kit». So if you’re after interesting PCMCIA devices (like me) this one was almost impossible to find.

Here is the 486 that I received, and re-installed MS-DOS 6.22 and WIndows 3.11 on. I'm waiting for my WD90C33-ZZ to arrive for it, and will be replacing the motherboard with an ECS UM4980 later on down the road. The intention is to get this thing running with either my Cx486 DX4-100 or Am5x86-P75. Currently has an i486 SX-25 installed.

Just bought this laptop I found in the classifieds:

Information on this thing is scant, to say the least, but it's supposedly a 12 MHz 286 with 1MB and monochrome LCD, although there's a picture of one on facebook with a colour screen but I'm not holding my breath. According to the owner it doesn't consistently boot which has me worried but for 25€ I'm willing to find out just what exactly the deal is.

The thing is that this baby apparently has 2 ISA slots...

Interesting. Once you receive it, may you please archive the installation diskette(s)? I bought one myself that is only the unit and PCMCIA card with the cable for $24.26 shipped + tax

It will take some time before I will test them.

Eizo MD-B05 card supposedly (info from previous owner) supports 18kHz MDA/Hercules monitors as well as 31kHz VGA analog monitors as it has analog output on pin 4 too. In 18kHz mode it's 132-column card with regular MDA/Hercules modes working as well (but taking only a part of the screen).
Also 1056x348 mode should work although the previous owner had some issues with that.

On this particular card multiple pins on the PixelFX (500-0003-03) chip were loose. On Voodoo 1 and Voodoo 2 cold solder joints (even without physical damage) are a plague. I assume it may be due to low quality solder used and /or not enough experience in mounting such complicated (for this time period) cards and chips being large so any sort of thermal wrapping and so on causes the pins to be ripped of from the PCB. From my experience Diamond Monster and Creative cards are especially on the lower quality side of things and prone to this.

Went to recycling again to spend a few coins. I believe those Forex boards are the ones with no documentation available at all, but they were 5€ a piece so why not?

Socket 7 MoBos with VLB and look NOS for 5Euro - such a great bargain! Congrats! I would really love to own one!

Yes, those are the only mentions of them. Still no jumper configuration. I'll try to fire one up to see what it says. Oh, and they are Socket 5.

Found @ local ad site some cool stuff:

The last mobo has a problem, the cpu doesn't match the jumpers setup....

In another haul form local ads, managed to pickup a nice bundle:

The mobo doesn't post, and being a nfore 4 ultra there is a chance of overcooked chipset.

@ Last, today I received in the mail a Geforce 7950GX2:

Its a crazy contraption from Nvidia, the inside GPU doesn't have proper cooling, but still it works....

That Bluestorm II looks pretty good, but I strongly recommend recapping it.
I've seen a lot of these units blow up in horrific ways due to the caps (mainly normal gray units but some Bluestorm IIs were affected as well).
I bought one a few years ago and I recapped it straight away. Mine's powering a i5-3470 at this moment w/ a GTX650.

Got some mainboards for very cheap from a local recycler...

Abit AB-PT5 rev 2.11 - looks good

Acorp 5ALI61 - BIOS chip is missing and the coin cell battery holder is damaged

LuckyTech P5MVP3 rev 1.3 - looks good, also

Lucky Star LS-486E rev D (I have also rev C and C2)

DTK GMB-386UMC ver 1.2 - BIOS chip is missing, the top SIMM slot is damaged and is full of green corrosion from the leaked barrel battery 🙁
This is the smallest board I've ever had...
