Hey,
Thought I would share my experience of testing my Asus VL/I-486SVGOX4 with an AMD 5x86 133 and 30 pin simms. This board very similar to the VL/I-486SV2GOX4 but features 30 pin simm slots which I think is pretty cool. I was curious to test if using 30 pin ram performed any differently to 72pin and if the same timings could be achieved. The board has 2 x VLB slots, no integrated I/O, is based on the SIS 471 chipset and has a PS/2 mouse port header. My board is the X4 version which has circuitry for 3.3 volt CPUs
My board is an older revision 1.2, I couldn't find jumper pin information anywhere online, Revision 1.5 has extra rows of jumper pins and I couldn't find any patterns when comparing which jumpers might correlate to what. So it was just trial and error. I managed to get it all up and going and system has been stable so far.
I can confirm VL/I-486SV2GOX4 bios versions work on this model and include support for the amd 5x86 133
I couldn't find any other threads where this board was paired with the 5x86 133. Turns out the board preforms quite well as per attached photo quake returned a result of 14.3 FPS and doom 1429 realteks.
Tests were performed with a VLB ARK 1000 VL video card and 16mb of 30 pin ram. I found Fastest bios settings were not a problem with either 72pin or the 30 pin ram.
Enjoy 😀
