Well, now, first off I can say that I think the reason the Soundblaster music sounds quite limited on this game is that it is original Soundblaster music.

Now, the reason I am posting is that I have the Interplay CD. On this version once Lobelia hits Frodo with an umbrella the game freezes up. The sound effect is better than I heard before. I am using DOSBox - X.

I have no idea why you are posting. Why are you trying to run this game in DOSBox-X? Why are you posting this in the DOS subforum?

DOSBox -X is better. It is a DOS game. I could also point out that the file 10th.bat does not work. The collection itself is Windows 95 compatible. I had to manually install the games by copying the games subdirectory to my dosgames subdirectory.

DOSBox-X has specific uses. In many cases it is no better than standard DOSBox.

Are you expecting anyone here to know what that means? Are you referring to an Interplay 10th anniversary anthology? Are we supposed to guess? Wouldn't it be easier to help you if you provided more details?

If the game is incorrectly installed, then that might explain why it is freezing.

It's the 10th anniversary anthology. I swear the game is correctly installed. Save game works.

If it was correctly installed, then why would you be having a problem? What are you expecting here?

What do you mean when you say "the file 10th.bat does not work"? How did you try to get it to work?

Bug fixes. I got one before.

mount E E:\
cd E:\
10th.bat

Odd error message.

Yeah, someone just told you in your other thread that you are not supposed to do that.

Odd error message.

Don't you think that error message might offer some useful clues as to what is wrong? Wouldn't it be great if you could say what it was, instead of just saying that it is "odd"?

Falcon 3.0 has the same problem that "soundblaster" as a music mode means original soundblaster, and the music sounds bad.

The error message is device unavailable in module "Open."

The text of 10th.bat is

@ECHO OFF
CD 10TH
10TH.COM

If you did not mount a directory as drive C before trying to run 10th.bat, then that would likely cause an odd error message. This was also discussed in your other thread.

Yes, you have to mount C and E before 10th.bat will work.

Are you mounting your CD-ROM as drive D in DOSBox? Like you were told to do in your other thread? And like it says in the 60 Seconds guide?

Please post exactly what you are typing when you try to install the game.

The corrected command is mount d e:\ and it doesn't change the result.

Also, I have a Lenovo and the DVD drive on my computer is E:\.

That was not my question. Please post everything that you are typing in DOSBox when you try to install the game. Are you typing EXACTLY the same things when you run the game in DOSBox-X?

mount c c:\dosgames
mount d e:\
d:

The splash screen starts without audio.

This still isn't clear. Are you expecting audio for some reason? Is there audio at the splash screen in DOSBox but not in DOSBox-X?

DOSBox gets the same result. A peculiar error message in the status window.

Okay, so: why do you think there's a problem? Don't you think it's likely that the splash screen doesn't have sound at all, even on original hardware?

A peculiar error message in the status window.

If you spent two minutes trying to Google that message, you would learn that it is insignificant.

I imagine the splash/install screen does have audio on original hardware. I noticed that they just bumped the revision on DOSBox -X and the directdraw version is no longer available.
