So. Basically, just because it is on eBay, then it is a no-go? As an example. If I posted link to a newly produced Furia020 sold by sordan on eBay, then it would not be alowed. However if I posted a link for the exact same product on sordan's regulair webshop, then it would be alowed? Wich means that posting a link to cheap shrink-tube from China, is not alowed on Vogons?

Just checking up if I understand it correctly.

It's promotion of active user sales/auctions that is frowned upon. Doesn't matter if its Ebay, Amibay or other external site.

Closed auctions you can link to, same with items from stores (direct sale-ads not allowed).

Some generic DB15 to DB15+MIDI cables…
DB15-to-DB15-and-MIDI.jpg

I've got fooled by these fancy cables before, they have no opto-isolators or any other components inside 😒

connectors are decent though, so you can modify them.

I figured they might be junk. That's why I chose the ones which aren't glued, so I do have the connectors (still cheaper than ordering the connectors separately).

I added a dell dimension 9200 to my array of older system yesterday that I got from a friend for sorting out his current win 10 desktop and laptop

it has been upgraded from 1 to 2 GB DDR2 at some point and somebody installed win 10 on it

needless to say this system is much better suited for windows xp

Im considering swapping its nvidia geforce 7900GS??? card to a radeon x600 card

unsure about the nvidia card since neither cpu z or gpu z can say much about it

I see. It is basically a shop that sell new case badges that I linked to on eBay. Newly produced stuff that is. If the owner of the shop is a Vogons member then I am sorry that I linked to it.

I'd say that is OK as long as the link is provided in proper context and doesn't fall under promotion/advertisement of said product or store. Example of proper context: there is a thread where case badges is discussed, someone asks were he can get X case badge, you then reply with link to a store selling it. Not proper context: you create a thread/post and says that a store has lots of badges for sale for a low price.

By saying "user" above I didn't mean specifically vogons members, but private persons in general. When we allowed people to link to private sales/auctions in the past that unfortunately got exploited and it created drama and tension. A store is considered a business and generally sell stuff for a fixed price with a larger inventory, so the whole transaction is unbiased and professional, therefore there is a distinction.

Do notice that we have an exception for community created projects, like keropi's Orpheus Soundcard, but it has to be presented as a project with community interaction and sales/ordering be done outside VOGONS.

Just bought this ATI WinCharger 1MB 113-32100-105 (I think it's the first revision) for £8.20 shipped. Didn't expect to win it for the opening bid 😀 Seller's pic

Oh well, it woulda been nice. Seller just refunded me, saying he got it out of storage on Saturday (so how had he photographed it?) and has since lost it 🙁

I'm now bidding on a later revision. Bit more expensive, but hey ho.

Won the later version for just over a tenner shipped. New collecting goal is to get the full Mach8 to Mach64 reference card set. And sort my collection to see which I already have 😀

Nice. I have personal attachment to the WinCharger model as it was the card I used in my Pentium PC back in 1996.

I picked this 420EX Aries 486 board. It is interesting as all other 420EX boards I've seen only had PCI slots. This is the first 486 board with Intel chipset and VL-Bus I have.

I need to finish organising my work area, then I'll probably test it in my Batman's Revenge board, and dual boot DOS 6.22/WFW 3.11 and 98SE (I must get 98lite for that though, not sure if that's fully functional if I can't register it)

Cool board! Not many jumpers, though?

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

Now that you mention it. Where are the jumperforests at? 😮
I can't remember ever having seen a standard baby-AT 486 board with this few jumpers. That or perhaps the jumpers came on a separate PCB or something 😜 (yes I'm joking. Now that would've been something 🤣)

There are actually jumpers incl. many undocumented if you look closely 😀

https://arvutimuuseum.ee/th99/m/A-B/32220.htm

486 boards with Intel chipsets are quite streamlined. They focus on processors with P24D-like pinout. So they don't need to alternate WB cache pins, altenative SL implementations, etc. like other motherboards that had to support Cx486, UMC486 or Cyrix DX4 pinout (which hardly anyone really needs anyway). They just wire everything most people want them to be wired.

I think there are pins to set bus speed and switch between SX and non-SX CPU (to route co-processor signals if at all required).

Voltage can be auto sorted by VOLTDET pin so no 3.3V/5V switching necessary.

I mainly bought it because I wanted a card with genuine OPL3 which also has Digital Out, and this one delivers on both ends. It's a Yamaha YMF744B-V and it has optical out (TOSLINK) which is perfect for my needs. I can now capture pristine, noise-free OPL3 recordings from my favorite DOS games. Haven't had a chance to test it yet, but will do so over the next couple of days. Fingers crossed!

I bought a nice SIEMENS PG 750 D luggable unit, used to program SIEMENS SIMATIC S5 PLC's.
It is in a really great shape, a little bit dirty on the outside and some dust on the inside.
It looks to be a complete unit but without the hard drive...
In the following days I will clean it up and try to power it up to see if it is still working... To bad it has a proprietary power supply 🙁
If someone of you has some docs or info on this system, a share would be much appreciated!

The labels do look dubious... but they seem to have '96 datecodes, like the rest of the components on the board. So whether they are real or fake, I would guess those came with the board originally, unless someone later on got chips with '96 dates, which would be quite a coincidence.
