Can't find clear confirmation, but 4180-6 sounds like 16Mbit FP DRAM specced for 60ns. If so, this is 4x16Mb=1MB.

The references I can find for this chip are surprisingly late, around 1996...

I drove about 45 minutes to pick up via facebook marketplace a new PC today. This is my 2nd retro rig. It is a Gateway model "500." It actually boots up into windows 98. It has I think a 10 GB quantum fireball HD. 2 optical driver that show up in the OS, but the trays won't open. A GeForce MX 200 I think. 128 MB RAM, a SB PCI 64 sound card of some kind and Pentium III 500 MHz. I am trying to decide what I want to do with this rig, but top priority is to add CF to IDE adapter and a working optical drive. I also think I need a more quiet fan. I am hoping this can maybe run Total Annihilation and Morrowind possibly as a first few ideas.

Won this controller card today. Listed as "Unknown VGA card HM83C452L". Nothing special, but probably good for a 286 or 386 system.

Do the optical drives attempt to open when you push the eject button? If they do and you hear the typical sound of the motor, most likely the rubber bands that drive the tray mechanism are worn out. Sometimes it helps to remove them, clean them thoroughly and put them back in place. I think maybe one third of the optical drives in my possession have this problem, it’s really annoying. I didn’t come across a good source for replacement rubber bands yet.

The chinese assorted belts sets on ebay often have something close enough to work in an optical drive.
Also, if the belt has become a bit loose but isn't melted you can try nuking in the microwave in a cup of water. Don't ask how or why but it often tightens them enough to work again.

The ad was very vague and had only 2 bad pictures.
Unfortunately, the CPU came loose in the case, so I had to bend the pins back first. The CPU-cooler is also broken.
But the worst: The computer does not recognize my (only AT-) Keyboard.

(It's a Pentium 100 with a 2 GB hard disk, FIC PA - 2002 Mainboard, and 32 MB RAM.)

I have a Bigtower and a minitower witch looks like yours 😁👍

Good story. I bought a MSI FX5950U a while ago, paid a pretty price of ~$200 CAD shipped. While it's in transit, the seller sends me a message and includes this nugget of information:

"I honestly do not think the card had ever been used. It was a replacement for a cad cam machine that was left over around 13 years ago."

Nice, so I replied back thanking him for the message and the back story, I mention that I really enjoyed reading it. A few days later he adds more to the story.

"Was thinking about where the card came from and it was around 2005 when sirona came out with a new cad cam system but the video card wasn't powerful enough so we did field replacements with these cards. This one was left over."

I finally get the card and mamma mia! It's new indeed. It came in a high-end, silver bubble-pop bag (industrial client-like) with small bracket that gets screwed into the card's top right corner, used to secure the card within a non-standard case, not something that gets used with the ATX cases that we're accustomed to.

Wow way to go on that score. Being a completely new card I think the price you paid was fine.

Picked up my Amiga 4000 today. Seller didn't know if it worked, so I got a hefty discount. First boot and it's good to go. It even had the OS installed already, 🤣. It needs a little work - two broken RAM clips, a few broken front faceplate pegs, and it needs a better coin cell battery holder. Other than that, it is pretty clean internally, mostly OEM with an added SATA 2.5" hard drive, CD drive, 3.1.4 roms, and 16MB RAM. I'll be replacing all the electrolytic caps since these have a tendency to leak, although none are yet that I can see upon close inspection.

Hah... I don't think I posted pics of the BFG 5950U I picked up a while back for around $50... cause the fans were dead.

Put an aftermarket cooler on it and it works like new.

I love how resellers pull these parts from a dumpster and upload them to craigslist immediately. No time to clean them up! 😁
At least you know they didn't bend any pins or knocked off SMD parts in the process.

Ordered some parts to rebuild 2 GameBoy DMG-01 systems with new IPS displays (FunnyGaming and OSD Q5s), speakers, shells that are IPS ready, battery terminals (logic board), glass screens, buttons, some LEDs to light the one shell, new DC regulators (in case the current ones are bad), rechargeable battery, and cover that has a USB-C opening for plugging in the charger from HandHeldLegend (not an affiliate, just a customer).

Soon, I'll have 4 DMG-01 consoles (2 not modified and 2 rebuilt).

Got a CGA adapter and a bunch of random hardware. I don't really know what the Officestations are but just couldn't leave them. The Dell PSU is huge!
