Ok, now I dare you to do a 386/486 AT build with an ISA/VLB IO controller, let's see if you can pull that off in a way that will make me feel ashamed..

What is this, a test? 😁
I know what you mean ^^

But I post before a system with controller card:
Re: Retro Rig Photo Thread

I have only two 486 System, one of them is a IBM PS/2 (and I don´t like them because I havn´t a MCA soundcard)
The other have VLB slots, but unused and the I/O is onboard:

NIC: 3com Etherlink III
HDD: Noname Slot Adapter with 512MB CF Card

I don´t like the config. I´m looking for a better GPU and the Soundcardset is wrong. I´ve got the Roland 2 weeks before and it´s new for me.

In Germany we have the Voodoo Alert Forum https://www.voodooalert.de/board/forum/ , a Forum roundabout the 3Dfx cards. The Users make every year some Lanparties (before Corona). The lanparties have themes like PCs only with 3Dfx included or "Midrange lanpartie".

Midrange mean: only 1 CPU Core and GPU max to Nvidia 7xxx oder ATI 1xxxx. This is one of my midrange PC:

Ok, while pretty clean, that is not too far off from what I can do as well so at least it doesn't make me feel like a filthy noob 😁

I was flicking through my PC magazines from 1994, and I remember from that era how I liked (and still do) the warpy Colani desktops and towers from the Vobis ads.

Wonderful systems, I am more of the gonzo style, or rat look ( to avoid having to mention lazy). Great work and an inspiration to us all.

the Colani Desktop

I want one of those Colani Highscreen desktop cases so bad! I have some very nice 386 hardware and even a matching 14'' Highscreen monitor to go with it.
But they're so hard to find, especially with the 5.25'' floppy drive and the HDD caddy still inside! Closest thing I have is one of those Colani AT bigtowers but it's missing the front door and the HDD caddy which are essential to the design imho. -_-
And the tower just isn't the same as the desktop!
