Manage to get the official modem for the compaq presario cds 5xx series.

Its not an isa card as can you see, it uses a proprietary connector.

Holy moly! That's amazing (although useless 😆). I remember wondering what the card would be like 26 years ago...

Bought a 3Dlabs Permedia card. My expectations aren't too high but it was cheap and interesting. I guess nobody likes these 😁 Seems to be the same card as presented here: https://vintage3d.org/3dlabs2.php

permedia3000.jpg

Never had a Permedia 1, but had a few Permedia 2s. Solid, trouble-free cards with excellent OpenGL functionality, but performance obviously wasn't geared towards games. I like the fact this is PCI, not AGP, and that piggybacked RAM expansion add depth to it. Sort of reminds me of the Diamond Stealth 3D 3000 (Virge/VX). Performance is probably in same league too: https://vintage3d.org/3dlabs2.php

Of possible interest is Creative CGL compatibility, which may exist.

Asus P2B-D

Nice ! Does it work ?

Only thing bought lately is box of NOS 3.5" floppy disks and a few small CF cards (1GB thru 32Gb) all in a bag bundled together for less than a cheeseburger. The CF card-USB reader cable was not in the bag but cost $2 extra.
Also bought a reprint of model 721/722 original manual off Ebay. Getting back into my second hobby is a bit more challenging...

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. https://archive.org/details/@horun

There's a chance, since it's a 1.06 https://www.asus.com/us/SupportOnly/P2B-D/HelpDesk_CPU/ but maybe the HIP6019BCD is what makes the "later shipments" of the 1.06 compatible?

[Edit]: Mine's a 1.05 and came with 667MHz Slot 1's .. And been acting as a home server at a friend's family, so I'm pretty sure it has been running with that ..

[Edit2]: Mine's a DS - would that make a difference?

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

Picked up a new old stock Cardinal VGA765 ISA graphics card (c. 1992). Some of you might remember me finding the elusive Cardinal SNAPplus a few years back and archiving that new old stock card over at -0°. Artex ended up with the SNAPplus when I was done. Well, the VGA765 is basically that card without the video capture/overlay features and is just as hard to find CIB much less NOS. The main reason for this purchase is to finally finish my massive Mathemetica, Inc. Tempra software archival project which is getting close to done. I am trying to grab as many variants of the software as I can before calling it a success.

And here it is in its new home, with its noisy little friend. Thanks again liqmat!

That photo is quite the bird’s eye view. Once you stick those Cardinals in their cages it will be interesting to hear how they sing. Anyone reading this post best not get their feathers ruffled due to my fowl puns.

Received this puppies today, ~8 USD for both. Seller claimed both work perfectly ( I haven't tested them yet):

- Asus P5S-B (Socket 7)
- Biostar M7VKQ (Socket A/462 - With ISA SLOT! Actually the first EVER 462 board I've seen with ISA slots for sale around here).

I think Apple kept firewire on life support for a while, for the video professionals market that had it in higher end cameras.

It helps a lot it having its own microcontroller to manage all the transfer work by itself instead relying on the host. This also allows to have pretty slim driver stacks and a SCSI-like "target mode" (firewire host becoming an slave peripheral, generally exposing its internal storage for file transfers). Finally, since Firewire controllers act a lot like HBAs, them generally need only one interrupt to be driven, thus easier to make them work in older PCI boards, unlike USB2, and specially UHCI/EHCI pairs.

with 5ns RAM this is a good candidate for a 200/200 voodoo3

Bought a GD5430 video card since it has well defined tracks design suitable for improvement mods and it looked like it was designed according to half PCI reference and cirrus logic reference design notes.

Cheers,

Hmmm. At that price is worth if they do not work, might be able to coax some life into one of them...

Nice ! That looks like an MSI or could be Gainward brand. Both made some good AGP cards !.

Good. Got a nos GD5434 not long ago, only 1Mb but has the two empty sockets.
So what are your improvement mods going to be ?

Found 3 boxes of new 720k DD/DS floppies today and more 1.44Mb for a $1 box. Boxes look a bit rough but were still sealed till I got them.
Nothing else good since the Micron Millenia Mme purchase back in April 🙁

How did they pack the 30 pack to have a box that shape?

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Standard method, that was a side view of the 30 pack, the ten packs are like you are looking at the floppy label. Guess I should have set the boxes the same orientation 😀
