Do you have 580VPX motherboard build with K6-3 chipset?
I have modified K6-2+ to K6-3 CPU with 256 KB cache, but i have no changes in performance in comparison with K6-2+ 128 KB CPU.
Why ? Any guesses ?

Have you run the k6init applications and run the memory bandwidth tests

It depends a lot on what software you run. I measured over 200% difference in speed, just by changing the cache configuration on a K6-2:
