I recently purchased an Advantech PCI-6872 SBC motherboard and used it as the foundation for building a mini PC.
My goal was to minimize the chassis dimensions as much as possible; upon completion, the final unit measured 18.5 cm x 16 cm x 25 cm.
Its components include:
Tualatin P3 1400-S
Advantech PCI-6872 (VIA PM133T chipset)
Kingmax PC-133 256MB SDRAM
PNY FX5200 PCI 256MB 128-bit DDR (Featuring 4ns video memory, ultimately overclocked to 280/540)
A-Trend Voodoo 2 12MB
Procomp G111 Voodoo2 12MB
Creative SB Live! CT4670
Delta DPS-250AB-35A PSU
I retained only the SD-to-IDE adapter, opting to omit both the floppy drive and the optical drive.
It has significantly freed up desktop space; however, there is one drawback: due to the extremely compact design, I had to install high-RPM fans to ensure adequate cooling, which results in somewhat elevated noise levels during operation.
