Is it possible to have two sound blaster cards in one machine, "active" at the same time under DOS?
I mean... If I want to utilize the wavetable from a SoundBlaster live or Ensonic Audio PCI card, and reroute it into a Sound Blaster 16 card.
Just wondering if it is possible, because the pci cards do need the enviroment settings in autoexec.bat
My reason for this, is to see if I can do the same sort of thing, as with the Gravis Ultrasound ACE.
I have tried to set it up in DOS, yet they (ensonic and live) need to have SB-Emulation up and running for wavetable to work.
That is why I can not get the wavetable "isolated" and using this only, and I think this would conflict with my SB16 isa card.
Just like the old Adlib conflict, when for example, having an V1-GUS and an AWE32 installed at the same time.

Would be cool to have a Soundblaster PCI-Card, routed into line-in on my SB16 and routed into my GUS-ACE and speakers connected to GUS.
In order for me, not to move the speaker-jack from card to card, only controlling cards using the config.sys/autoexec.bat startmenu.

If the second Sound Blaster is PnP, it should work!

Just create batch files that will load the drivers for each card. While I don't use two cards in my machine, I use batch files to load everything, from the CD driver, to Mouse, AWE64 drivers...

But going through 2 line-ins and mixers the resulting signal might not have the best quality.

What many use is a Stereo mixer. I got a 4 channel model, costs around $100 but it's well worth it.

I have a SB16 pnp card, GUS-ACE and the third I wish to get going, is eighter Creative Ensonic AudioPCI or SB-Live.
What I can't figure out, is to make that batch-file and I think the SB-Enviroment lines for each Creative card's would
conflict as I fear that they would configure same IRQ's DMA's etc for both cards at the same time.

That is true. Not what I am after. 😁
Just want to see if it is possible to utilize the wave-table portion of a pci card, in a some sort of strange frankenstein sollution. 😁
Think of it, as an alternative daughterboard sollution. 😉

The trouble is finding a PCI card that works in dos properly with wavetable GM.
Most of them only work in a 9x dosbox.
I combine a SB LIVE or another PCI card with an ISA card anytime I can, but I only use the PCI card in windows.

You can use Aureal Vortex 2 with a GM daughterboard.
