Hello
I'm trying to get the original Command & Conquer (its Readme says: June 1996, Version 1.22) working on a fairly modern computer.
Without VDMSound Version 2.0.4, using either windows or command prompt, the sound "drops" out for a split second about every second. It sounds somewhat like an old scratchy record, with loud somewhat regular pops. Graphics work fine.
With VDMSound opened with Windows explorer (by right-clicking), game
loads very, very slowly. Graphics also load very slow, sound is very broken
up.
With both VDMSound and game run from command prompt, graphics and
sound are identical as running game without VDMSound.
The above situations are consistent, they happen every time, all the time.
(I did read the README.)
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

* Sound mode used When I installed the game, I clicked "Sound Blaster"
which produces the settings: Port 220, IRQ 5, DMA 1. I tried changing IRQ to 7, the installation hung.
