I'm extremely tempted to buy a machine with an Intel 815 EP chipset, but not sure if it's really worthwhile. Are there any benefits of an 815EP over a similar configuration 478 such as an MSI 645 or an Intel 845 with backward compatible AGP?
Given that 478 P4 boards cost almost nothing right now, I can't justify spending a significant amount of money on a slower P3 setup.
Since most P4 boards lack support for NMI for Sound Blaster compatibility, I would imagine the P3 setup would be better for that, but my 440BX systems have the DOS segment mostly covered.
So in terms of Windows 98SE 3D accelerated games, would the 815EP have any significant benefits over a 478 P4 with a similar expansion slot configuration?
Thanks in advance.
