Hello VOGONS members!

I recently got my hands on a Creative AWE64 Gold, and while cleaning it (it was absolutely disgusting), I noticed some slight corrosion on the gold-plated audio ports. Since it wouldn't come off with 91% isopropyl alcohol (at least in any reasonable amount), and CLR is out of the question, does anyone have any recommendations on cleaning solutions that can safely remove this slight corrosion off the ports? Also, if I decided to leave the corrosion on the ports, would it significantly affect the outputted sound's quality in any meaningful way?

Sorry that it is kind of hard to see.

Try some DeoxIT Gold Wipes.

Will do. Going to buy a small pack on ebay and test them out.

Got some of those wipes, and tried them. They didn't do anything noticeable to the corrosion on the AWE64's golden ports, though.

You could try polishing them with a non-water-based polish. The whole point of corrosion is that it is damage to the material itself, not gunk that has attached itself to the surface, so the only solution is to remove some material...
