I have a Compaq LTE Elite 4/75CX with the always troublesome Citizen W1D floppy drive and I'm trying to repair it, but I think I did something wrong? I opened it up to try and shrink the belt, as I don't have a replacement on hand, and after reassembly it won't accept a disk, it just gets stuck in the drive. I opened it up again and corrected an issue I noticed (the drive head assembly had somehow come loose from the worm gear that moves the heads back and forth) but I still can't actually load a disk into the drive. What did I do wrong?

There's an arm that sits at the bottom of the drive housing. That needs to link up with the arm on the disk tray part, I think I had the same problem yesterday?

Check that the arm is linked up like in this picture:

I've got 2 of them in parts right now since the W1D in my T4900CT was actually broken. Yesterday I put it all back together and the disk I think got stuck in there. When I test the non-working drive with the arm not linked up in one position, the disk can no longer 'click' into the drive and just pushes back out.

That has to be my issue, then, because if I try and push in a disk it just gets stuck until I kinda lever it back out.

Thank you for the pictures, they're extremely helpful!
