You are going to hate me now,
yesterday I bought a bunch of old IDE and SCSI CD-/DVD-Roms and floppy drives.
The strange looking floppy wasn't a 3.5 mounted on a 5.25 but an ATAPI Zip-100. Testing it now and it's way faster than LPT and SCSI.
Paid 10€ for all and they all work. 0.625€ a piece.

The 233MHz ceramic P1 MMX CPUs are all fake. This one was really made with that sspec and frequency in the ceramic package
At first glance I don't see it as being a counterfeit, but perhaps I'm overlooking something here?

Are you suggesting that all ceramic packages with an MMX label are fake or just the 233 Mhz ones?

I scored an ATAPI zip250 in a junk lot, not sure if it works, it’s one of them internal jobs with no bezel.

Bought two Pentium II: one with 266Mhz, the other with 333Mhz

The attachment PentiumII.jpg is no longer available

Does anybody know the difference between a P2-266 'EC' and 'non EC'?

EC supports ECC memory, non EC the opposite

Thank you! Sounds totally obvious - now 😀 I just could find this information anywhere.

Them EC versions are rock solid chips, designed for servers mostly but should work in a gaming system in a pinch.

Just the 233MHz versions. 233 is always PPGA. The 166MMX and 200MMX exist in both CPGA and PPGA. The 200MMX in the picture doesn’t look fake, however the imprint of the sSpec and production date is somewhat shiny but that’s probably a camera-thing rather than a counterfeit product 😉.

I really hope it works. It's so much faster and easy to use!

Zida Tomato TX-100 with Pentium 200 MMX in this AT case which I really don't like and would be happy to sell

fake pentium mmx 200

doesn't look fake to me either, what makes you think that?

Unfortunately the board doesn't POST, though the CPU heatsink gets warm (and there are three strange faint clicks from the speaker instead of beeps)
So I can't tell at the moment if it's real or fake

And by the way, this board has CPU fan and ATX power connectors so close together, that they can't be used simultaneously 🙁 at least without cutting off PSU connector bracket

I probably would have been quiet this time. But i've also lost money with the "i take all" approach. Last time, i got a pile of junk without the nice Voodoo 2 seen on the picture.

imi wrote on 2022-02-07, 10:19:

yeah, I did that once and then received the lot without all the cool cards that were on the pictures
turns out the seller had already sold all those cards individually and didn't bother to update the pictures, also didn't get anything back from them.
(and it was more than just €5)

That would count as a scam here in Krautland.
If it's on Ebay, just get your money back. If it's on a locals site, threaten with lawyer/police.

Some months ago, I saw something like that on a Ebay feedback. Scrap seller auctioned off a CPU lot. The buyer received a lot without the goldcap CPUs which where on the picture.

now with the changed payment system chances on ebay are a lot better yeah, but wasn't ebay was on a local marketplace site, and even then, during that time mostly all those auctions on ebay-krautland 😉 were bank transfer only anyways so no chance unless the seller was honest.

I did threaten them but at some point they just stopped replying, they even said it was my fault for not asking... and unfortunately I neither have the time nor energy to pursue something like that for a 2-digit € amount... and yeah, I know, dishonest people count on exactly that 🙁

anyways... in more positive news, I got this cute little thing

Bought this PC in the recycling center for a small amount of money. Inside there is an Abit KX7-333 motherboard. Two capacitors have leaked badly, and need to be replaced, along with two or three that have bulged. But she still boots, which is most important.

Won an IBM Model M that's almost 31 years old (2-15-1991) with a few Unicomp keys (control, alt, and shift keys) and I bought a Microsoft USB/PS/2 trackball mouse with a scrolling wheel.

Keyboard:

Trackball mouse:

The keyboard has a modification that has screws in place of the crappy rivets so in case the keys aren't responding very well, it'll be an easier job to fix it. Wish my 1987 model had that (still have that, however, some of the keys aren't responding anymore).

Nice keyboard.
I would love to have coloured keys on mine. But since it's French layout, the left "shift" key is smaller, so replacement keys you can buy does not fit.
I have two of them (not counting an M2, witch is really a cheaper version) .
I use them everyday for work (and currently using one for this message)

"Hello, my friend. Stay awhile and listen..."
My collection (not up to date)

Hey look, top left you got a mini wind tunnel, you can carve aerodynamic models out of cherry pits or something and test them in it. 🤣

Nice they all came with coolers, hope most are working.... if so, that's prolly where 3/4 of the value is 🤣

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.
