I see those SFF cases on eBay all the time with a starting price of £0.99. I had the same thoughts as you but I absolutely hate those low profile expansion slots. Hard to find small cases with a full size riser slot. I have my reasons!

For $15 I got an Aztech Waverider Pro 32-3D (138-MMSN852) , which sounded brighter and clearer with FM music than the CT2770 and ES1868.

And... it won't let a 1GHz CPU go higher than 833MHz.
Used the multiplier selection from P2B rev 1.10 to set jumpers to 7.5x multi for 7.5x133= ~1GHz, yet nada.
Also locks up before showing the Windows desktop, although idk if it was because I was booting off a 9GB IBM SCSI HDD.

I love the these Aztech cards I'm 99% sure the MMSN852 was my first sound card back in the day and came in a 'multimedia' bundle with an 8x CD drive. I bought a MMSN852 for five times as much last year as am on a mission to rebuild my old system, nostalgia is crazy.

Yeah, upgrading older P2B-series boards would be a lot simpler if the 9150-08 133Mhz setting actually worked, instead of producing an ugly signal the BX interprets as 109Mhz. Maybe next time you are beating on them about the cost of deficient designs, you could suggest they atone for past sins by making 9250-08 samples available to those of us who still care...

I have the old 9150 clock gen chip which I confirmed with SoftFSB wont produce a proper signal at 133Mhz it downclocks the CPU's (I forgot exactly what but it was lower than 112Mhz FSB).

Managed to snag an ASUS P5PE-VM for a price I think was reasonable

It was £40 (GBP) - I think I was able to snap it up because it was listed incorrectly as a different motherboard

Every time I've had chance to see one listed it's been for 3-4x the price I paid

Excited to get it into a little case for some Win98 tom-foolery

Ah, 3rd gen Aztech card. Yes, nice real OPL3 with better filters than most SB16. Shame about the Samsung 1MB wavetable - but they can't all be MMSN826 (with ICS wavetable and 2MB ROM)

Nice price too, even formerly unloved and ubiquitous Aztech cards are starting to get thin on the ground.

I also own a same exact Panasonic floppy drive. The fact that you can't rotate the lever without any floppy inserted is very cool.

That's quite a haul - I mean literally, that Lian-Li case has wheels right? I used to have that in silver and it was huuuuge. I sold it a while back and had to ship it in a cardboard box, the shop I dropped it off at said no more packages that size 😒

The fact that you can't rotate the lever without any floppy inserted is very cool.

Just be very careful with it and make sure that anyone that may interact with the machine knows that it does NOT lock unless a disk is inserted.

I had a similar drive and the plastic sleeve+bump that acts as the locking mechanism is just press-fitted onto a steel shaft with a notch cut in it. So, the twisting force applied to the lever on the outside translates to a twisting force (with leverage) of 30+ year old plastic on a steel rod. The white plastic may be different, but on the black ones this causes the plastic to crack in multiple places, which prevents the lever from working at all. 🙁

The way I fixed it was actually to wrap the cracked plastic sleeve several times in wire-wrapping wire (with the shielding stripped off), and then using a soldering iron to melt the wire into the plastic to give it some strength. Last I knew it was still operating... but this was not a fun process!
