Could you zip up your logs and attach them in your reply? Also which version of Windows is this running on.

Definitely. It's on Win11 Pro 23H2 (22631.5039).

Just updated from Win10 last week and so far can't see the point of it.

Also do you have any audio plugins or audio/video capture software of any sort running? Dosbox should have audio all the time.

No audio plugins, nor any capture software at all installed.

I'll try switching to a different sound output to see if that makes a difference and post here if it does.

My Apologies. It seems to be something with my sound card driver. When I switched to Nvidia HDMI sound (monitor) it works without issue.

I should have thought to check that before asking here.

All the same, thanks for the reply!

Google Gemini suggests that you check in dosbox-rendition .conf(or dosbox-staging-rendition .conf settings):
[mixer]
nosound=false/true (try changing this)

The conf file can be found in %localappdata%\temp or can be opened from the Dos tab in RLauncher; navigate to the DOS tab and click the dosbox you're using (try both) and then click the dosbox settings button (topmost button in the DOS tab).

[EDIT] Glad you got it sorted! It's ok to ask.

What is the soundcard that did that? There might be a way of stopping it through the supplied software.

It's an old ...... old Asus Xonar STX I . Still makes fantastic sound.

I don't think it's an actual problem though. When I opened the driver control panel for it and toggled a couple of settings, Dosbox/RR ICRII started working with it too.

I think was likely an artifact of the Windows upgrade which needed the settings for the sound driver to be reset. It just took me by surprise because all my other games have worked fine since the upgrade. I didn't notice any problem until today with Dosbox. But now it seems fine too.

Thanks again for the support. Have a wonderful weekend.

Likewise!

I still have an old Xonar D2 in storage which I can't use in my dev machine, because I don't have any PCI slots.

Haha, ya I try to make sure any motherboard I buy still has a PCI-e slot which isn't hidden by today's gargantuan GPUs.

I also still have my original Rendition Verite card sitting in a box too.

I should learn to let go of things.

I think there are PCIe to PCI converters, had luck with those?

The card is pci, the motherboard has pci-e. Don't those things raise the profile of the card?

Anyone interested in testing custom tracks right now (with a broken 1982cart) can try these. An upcoming version of TREdit will fix the carset problem (I hope!).

If you're interested in trying it right now, you need:
1) this broken version of 1982cart:
https://nirvtek.com/downloads/1982CART.Broken.Compacted.7z
MD5:781682209c42aeb79f625173abe85123
2) A patched version of ICR2 with at least 128 MB of texture RAM:
(128 MB version)
https://nirvtek.com/downloads/ICR2.128%20MB%2 … ure%20Buffer.7z
MD5:0104b3967c0396af1b253d0b63553e2a
3) A version of Dosbox-Rendition or dosbox-staging-Rendition with memsize set to 512 MB (or version 1.0.40 where it's forced to 512 MB always).

You won't need this but, I also have a version of ICR2 with up to 768 MB of texture RAM, but that will need the next version of Dosbox.
For these tracks more texture RAM won't help, but in case you're interested in trying it out here's a version of ICR2 with 768 MB of texture heap:
https://nirvtek.com/downloads/ICR2.768%20MB%2 … ure%20Buffer.7z
MD5:4f1033cecc84b84d5d354b0de00f2b01
For this you'll need the this (extremely) alpha release of Dosbox-Rendition and/or Dosbox-Staging-Rendition:
https://nirvtek.com/downloads/RReady.Alpha.20250319.001.7z
MD5: 89e49155ba4e80c093f103af0927cffa
- Forces memsize to 1 GB (1024)
and you'll still need the compacted version of 1982cart (first link, top)

Please let me know if these don't work.

I've found a DOS/4GW call Int 21h with AX=FF90h which doesn't seem to be in the handy list @Makus' linked to.

There're a lot of AX=FFh calls but this one's missing.

In case anyone would like to do some more testing:

TREdit for converting tracks and carset to a [EDIT]half single[EDIT] level MIP:
https://nirvtek.com/downloads/TREdit.20250321.001.7z
MD5: 4eb4d4083a9bcbfa4bb35f199c5a1d15

To use this with an unpacked DAT:
tredit <path to unpacked dat> -reduce -convert <output folder>

The ICR2\Tracks\<trackname>\folder should have everything already there apart from the DAT. Copy and paste the contents of <output folder> (just the MIPS really) to ICR2\Tracks\<trackname> overwriting any existng MIPs.

If the source track or carset is packed into a DAT file:
tredit <path to dat file> -unpack <unpack directory>

First zap the dat file in ICR2\TRACKS (leaving all other files in there), copy the unpacked files folder then do a reduction and paste reduced files over ICR2\Tracks\<trackname> folder.

I've successfully reduced Denver, Indianpolis and Riverside 82 as well as Cars2020 and LOLA 1995. I'll post them in a bit.

TREdit also corrects a bug with MIP file processing. The shrinking/resizing capability might be broken. The explode MIP file function should work correctly for all MIP levels.
