2. FOREX chipset 386 & 486 hybrid motherboard
It is a Global Computer Networks FOREX 386/486 with mediocre performance, no more performance tuning options in the BIOS, and a memory read and write speed of only 12MB/s.

Interesting, how do you switch between the 486 and the 386? Do you have to enable one or the other in the BIOS?

Use 386: Remove the 486 CPU, set the CPU type jumper, set the FSB jumper to 66.
Use 486: Install 486CPU, set CPU type jumper, set FSB jumper to 33.

No BIOS setup is required

ah the good old days of physical jumpers, viruses couldn't infect your bios if the jumper was physically in the wrong spot.

Ok, and if you set the jumpers WITHOUT removing the 486 what happens?

KT333A rev CD motherboard with what looks like a few bulging caps. Gotta scratch that "maximum powa" itch for 3.3v AGP (Voodoo 3 3000). Current KT266 motherboard is limited to Athlon xp 2000+
SD2IDE capped at 33Mbps but is really stable, KT333 is full 133Mbps so may use ssd again but found ssd's are generally unstable compared to sd card

Yes, I tried that, and while installing a 486DX-33 processor, I set the jumpers to use a 386 processor, and turning on the power nothing happened, no self-test, no alarms, and no post code were displayed.
