Hi everyone,
I’m building a retro Slot 1 PC using an ABIT BE6 (non-II) motherboard, and I want to use a Pentium III-S Tualatin 1.4 GHz CPU. Since the Tualatin is Socket 370, I need an adapter to fit it into the Slot 1 board.
The vintage Slotkets are very expensive, so I’m thinking about making a custom adapter PCB. I don’t know all the intricate technical details — I mostly know:
The Tualatin CPU needs lower voltage than Coppermine Slot 1 CPUs
I need a way to safely map it to the Slot 1 connector
I want it to be stable and reliable
I’d really appreciate advice on:
Can a custom PCB adapter be made safely for Tualatin → Slot 1?
Any tips on voltage adjustment or protecting the CPU?
Examples of anyone who has done something similar (photos, pinouts, schematics)?
General advice for someone new to this, so I don’t damage my CPU or board
Thanks in advance — any help or guidance would be amazing!
