This one works on with my ISA soundcard. I don't know whether the device id is right here. If this works on your machine, it should list both the soundcard and the 3DB.

It might to be a good idea to run it several time to see if the device IDs are the same each time, though this might be an issue with Dosbox-Rendition.

The other two spurious pnp queries now fail, returning 0xff.

It's still picking up the same fully detected card. This almost certainly is the pnp id of the vlb, unless you have other isa/vlb cards. I've added it to dosbox, but I still get a 3d blaster not found. So it's probably at the next step now.

Using the device Id from your query in dosbox , the config app has some extra stuff it does. Need to see what that is. I didn't get any further with the cgl driver today either.

I'll try and put some more time into it tonight. Got icr2 stuff to deal with right now.

Thanks, that's a massive amount of testing!

I guess 0x38, 0x18 identifies Creative isa/vlb pnp cards. Pci ids for the 3dbpci uses something similar., not sure if it's the same.

Bit 0 is wrong and there's another bit at the end. The missing bit in this case needed to be 1. I've fixed my test app, but there's no need to retest it. The apps detect the card. The VLB config app then proceeds to get stuck in a loop querying the resource, which currently doesn't work in DosboxR.

The ID for the VLB is
Card #1: 70 31 08 A0 1B DE 00 00 A7

I'll have another test app to query resources tomorrow, when I get back to CGL.

After querying the IDS for card #0 across the entire port range, it then repeats the process for card # 0-FF. Here the ID needs to be returned again. After that the resource query begins.
