Can you show us a detailed picture of the backside of the card, preferably from the DVI connector area?

I encountered similar issue on the FX5500.
DVI worked fine on older monitor with CCFL backlight, but it refused to work with modern monitor via DVI-HDMI adapter.

This is on a 2004 NEC LCD so compatibility isn't an issue.

If you are using a DVI-D cable I would suggest trying a DVI-I cable instead or try a passive DVI to vga connector just to see if the port works.

You are missing a component at B22.

Yep, B22 is missing entirely, meaning that the GPU is not getting VDDC_CT which powers parts of the GPUs I/O section. It might be the reason your DVI interface is not working at all.

For testing, you might just bridge B22 with a piece of wire and see if things work then. After that you can look for a replacement.

If you can’t find a ferrite bead (which is what you’ll be advised to use) or a 0-ohm SMD resistor, it’s actually quite simple to make a neat one yourself.
Tap the tinned wire (for example, 0.32 mm CAT5 Ethernet cable) three or four times with a hammer, then cut it with a craft knife.
It will be fairly inconspicuous and won’t stand out.

This sort of decision is typical over-engineering from ATI, who did everything exactly by the book.

You'll need a ferrite bead with an impedance of 60Ohms at 100MHz. Size of 1206 should fit very well. Current rating around half an amp should fit (the R300 specs VDDC_CT at 450mA, wouldn't expect it to be higher for the R400 series).

Sorry for hijacking this thread but the problem is similar. So I have an ATi X850 XT with issues on the dvi connector too. Seems to have no signal when attached via a dvi cable but using a dvi>d-sub/vga adapter it works on analog monitor input.
Having a closer look on the cards backside after reading this thread I noticed a missing transistor(?) on Q14 that may be the reason (the layout seems identical to the X800 in this area). Looking at pictures it seems that Q14 is the same part as Q15 nearby and this one has a designation WK 3 53 (the last numbers are written vertically), but I am not able to find a spare part based on that info. Can someone please give me a hint, what specific part this is? Thanks a lot.

These are level-shifting transistors that convert 5V to 3.3V for reading the DDC from the monitor.
There are no specific requirements or design parameters.
You can use whatever is available.

guys idk if is old thread...i have bought and came just today a Sapphire Radeon X800 GTO, the 256MB GDDR3 PCI-Express version. I tried first on my old i7 PC with an asus P7H55M-PRO from 2010. I tried it on my old CRT VGA only blue cable, and it works with signal...how and why? Are the X800 too old for HDMI? im using wrong adapter? It works on my GTX260 and HD7850, also on a GeForce 6600. The X800 doesn't, not also on my Samsung G5 Oddysey main monitor with HDMI cable and that adapter...
