are you sure this was a MAC board because the ROM you posted is a PC ROM!

any way the rom you posted is 57403 this rom does not show any post screen if used with MAC board
the only one that works but has the clock issue is 53008 and it belongs to All-in-wonder card (so you get all the unwanted
tv stuff devices when using its ROM), by modding the the dot clock frequency it must be good to go.

which ATI rage 128 do you have, can you post a picture of the board and the flashing process
did the flash process went without any issues!

Here are the photos. This was not the original bios. I tried an earlier uploaded bios but that only worked in Windows (when setting the Hz correctly). See earlier posts. Can't find the original bios atm but it was a MAC bios.

i adjusted the ROM accordingly

Tried it today but unfortunately there is no output at all. Flash was successful with ATI flash 1.6 (with -f option).

ok now the question is
which rom, allowed you to post but had the out of synch issue ?
the one you flashed before the moded roms, did it allow you to post or no ?
if the ROM you uploaded the "57403" showed you a post

this is mysterious, i need to uncover what's in the ROMs that prevent them from posting on one version of the card and not another

Memory config: 4 x Samsung K4G323222M-PC70, not tested yet. Not sure if 64 or 128bit memory.
I think it's 64bit, because on the backside there are traces for 4 additional memory chips for a total of 32MB.

I am not that skilled to edit the BIOS file, however I can get the files and I can use tools to flash new BIOSes.

if they are they both have the same clock and almost the same part number, go ahead and slap that PC bios in your MAC and see what will happen !
for the memory configuration i wont bother, because in RAGE 128 bios ATI has a subroutine within it that checks the memory configuration and sets the RAM config registers accordingly
hope the rage 128 pro has the same thing.
if you have 4 of K4G323222M 512K*32bit*2banks means you have 128bit
use the file "Rage128progl_120-120mhz32mb128bit" (it has the P/N 133-63211-10) from this link "https://www.vgamuseum.info/index.php/componen … ti-rage-128-pro" change the file extension to ".ROM" if flash16 complains.

Hello everyone,

I got a basically free Mac Rage 109-63000-00 and really wanted a PC Rage with DVI (which exist, but are really rare apparently). To find a solution I went a bit overboard and collected 30 VBIOS, tested them and only then stumbled upon critical info: this thread and a review of a real PC DVI card 🤦

TL;DR: I got the mentioned card working, and DVI is fine too, so thanks for all the info/help.

The Mac card seems to use a different DVI pinout than the PC variant, pins 23+24 are connected to two capacitors (or inductors?) on Mac but via wire links on PC.

Soldering wire links finally did the trick (I did not remove the big capacitors), I got DVI in BIOS, DOS and Windows, see pictures.

If someone wants the VBI files I collected from different sites please contact me, I'm not sure about attaching them here. The same goes for the ATI documentation, but these files are much easier to find on the internet (bitsavers etc.)
