Such a cool car, and I really like all three movies in the classic trilogy, though I especially like Mad Max! I've watched that several times, and like it even more with each viewing. I really like how it takes place in a setting that's basically a step beyond what the world actually is now but not yet the total nightmare world of The Road Warrior.

When I was much younger, I though The Road Warrior was a much cooler, exciting movie... but now I definitely prefer Mad Max. People seem to live somewhat normal lives, there's still a police force (that's become a hyper-violent group of vigilantes out of desperation), and there's even a "functioning" legal system.

Instead of being a post-apocalypse movie, it's a story about the apocalypse that's about to happen. It's got some amazing action and stunts; but what I always find intriguing when I rewatch the movie is how powerfully it depicts a society that is falling apart but trying to hold itself together.

The only one I have issues with is the third one. I remember the first two mostly left to the watcher how the world went to shit and the third gave a definitive answer I didn't need. It's also very different in tone to the first two.

As for a vaguely similar movie to the first one, is Soylent Green. I think it takes place in 2023. I know I watched it in the year it takes place. In the 70's people really liked movies about the world going to shit because of resource exhaustion and/or overpopulation. Logan's Run was another one of those kind of movies.
