Switch it up to 16bit. xD

I ran Q3 1.11 on a 1GHz P3 on my intel d815eea board with 512MB SDRAM and a Radeon 8500:
I also tried it on my OR840 with a P3 933, 512MB of RDRAM and a Radeon 8500:
Wow, that 2GHz Celeron was slower than my P3@933MHz
ok, just stood up a 2.8GHz P4 (period correct northwood core, non-HT) with a very much non-period correct Geforce 8400GS and wanted to run timedemos but for some reason I can't. I have the Linux version of Q3 (can't find my case with the key on it right now) and the way I've always installed it was to get the final update for Windows, install it, then copy over PAK0.pak from the CD to base3q. The game runs but no timedemos on it. Where can I get 'em?
70,6fps
CPU: Athlon 1200 @ 10x133=1333Mhz

GPU: Voodoo5500 AGP 64MB - last official beta driver

41,8fps
CPU: 2 x Tualatin PIII 1.4Ghz
2x512MB PC133 RAM
GPU: Geforce FX5500 PCI256MB forceware 45.xx
PCI seems to limit like hell

Nah, it's just the FX5500 gpu. I got 177fps with a standard PCI 8400GS.

Q3 loves the bandwidth of the i840.
It gets a bit silly with modern hardware

using the OP settings, Trilinear drops performance maybe around 15FPS from what I can remember;
in any case, GMA 950 is pretty decent for something at least!
My recently upgraded HTPC:
Haswell i5-4670, locked at its turbo frequency (3.8GHz on all cores)
8GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24
Asus H87 motherboard
GTX 1050Ti 4GB (new; previously had a GTX 750, but Netflix in 4K requires a Pascal GPU w/ at least 3GB of VRAM. Bastards.)
Win 10
1024x768, all settings maxed = 984.6 fps
"A little sign-in here, a touch of WiFi there..."
Seems there is a 1000 fps limit.
Only getting 868.4 fps at 2160p 16x AF 8x AA though 😵
Time for an upgrade I guess...
